COCO Dance Festival, known for pushing the boundaries of contemporary dance, is celebrating its remarkable 15-year journey with an audacious shift in its approach.

Not content with just captivating audiences through choreography, this year’s festival is poised to revolutionize perceptions both on and off the stage.

For its 2023 season at NAPA on the 28th and 29th October, the festival is taking advantage of the 1,100 seat capacity of the auditorium and making tickets available to audiences at the remarkable price of $50. Sonja Dumas, one of the festival’s directors, remarks, “With its impressive size, NAPA empowers us to explore volume in a way we’ve never imagined. One of our main goals has always been to make dance accessible to the widest possible audience, and this venue enables us to do just that.”

For the first time in its history, the festival aims to conduct this amazing experiment in socio-economics. With one of the largest theatres in the region, and its longest running dance festivals, the visionary directors of this non-profit organisation believe its 15th Anniversary season serves as an ideal laboratory for this experiment.

This simple but innovative pricing strategy underscores the festival’s unwavering commitment to democratizing the arts and igniting a passion for dance across diverse communities. By erasing the financial barriers to entry, COCO Dance Festival seeks to foster an inclusive atmosphere where dance-lovers, newcomers, and curious minds alike can come together to experience the transformative power of movement.

As the festival celebrates its 15th year, it continues to explore ways that the artists can evolve and thrive while remaining true to their core mission. The festival will also host a series of master classes, workshops and panel discussions over the festival week. COCO Dance Festival invites everyone to join the movement and celebrate the art of dance.
