Twenty poets will be shortlisted and featured in the Winner’s Collection and become a permanent member of the Poetry Archive.
The overall winner will receive £1,000. The deadline for submission is August 3.
The Poetry Archive is the only charity wholly dedicated to the production, acquisition and preservation of recordings of significant poets reading their work aloud. Since its launch in 2001, The Poetry Archive has preserved carefully curated 10652 poems – representing diversity of styles, perspectives and language with 5 million views per year.
In a statement on their website, they explain “When a poet dies without making a recording, a precious resource is lost for ever and as time goes by that loss is felt more and more keenly. By recording poets reading their own work, The Poetry Archive preserves for future generations uniquely valuable voices which might otherwise be lost. The Poetry Archive’s collections bring poetry into homes and classrooms and offers a valuable educational resource as well as protecting and preserving an important part of our social and cultural history.”

In addition to the 20 selected poems added to the Winners Collection, hundreds of other poets will be published to their YouTube and other channels where a series of special profiles, poetry festival events and publicly curated collections to ensure that the poems are shared as widely as possible with poetry lovers around the world.
