“Everyone love a Weekend”, those are the sentiments from Adrian
Hackshaw formerly known as Third Bass now Bass aka “Trilo G the Artiste” or when playing on the radio or as a Discjockey, he is referred to as “Bass –No time to waste”.
Ever since making a significant breakthrough in 1996 and 1997 with his chart-topping hits, “J’Ouvert Morning” and “Makin Me High”, the latter crafted by the late, brilliant soca producer Sheldon “Shel
Shock” Benjamin, Bass has firmly established himself as a visionary artist at the forefront of the Trini cultural explosion.
Throughout the years, he has skillfully extended his talents across various genres of Trinidad and Tobago music, including soca, rapso, chutney, and parang. Furthermore, his songwriting prowess has made a mark, having penned tracks for numerous soca artists, including Destra, Denise Belfon, Rocky, Sanelle Dempster, Eddie Charles, and Michelle Xavier.
He takes great pride in his capacity to connect with individuals from diverse backgrounds. He leverages his media platform to provide education to the youth, particularly those susceptible to the sway of urban demographics. His boundless mindset serves as a pivotal factor in his continued success, a vital element in the music industry’s ongoing survival.
“For the carnival season of 2024, Bass is gearing up with his latest single, “IS DWEEKEND,” an electrifying and high-tempo track produced by the renowned hitmakers, “De Redboyz” from Barbados. This dynamic duo is no stranger to success, having also produced his 2016 hit classic, “Bum Bum,” famously known as “If Yuh Stush Go In The Bush.” With the infectious energy of this new track, you can be assured it will ignite your party spirit, beckoning you to join in the festivities, break loose, and jumpfor joy.
Bass describes it as “A delight for the ears and cool on the feet.” He explains that the initial idea for the song was entirely different; he aimed to create a lively, love-infused tune to commemorate the
conclusion of Carnival and also to honor Valentine’s Day, coinciding with Ash Wednesday.
After sharing the track for feedback, he received overwhelmingly positive responses. However, one of his female friends expressed her lack of enthusiasm and encouraged him to strive for something more
impressive. Although he initially considered that her perspective might be influenced by her single status and timing, he decided to heed her advice and explore a new concept, aiming to craft an even better creation.
On a Sunday afternoon, I started playing the Redboyz instrumental, and it struck me that since “Holiday” was such a popular song, the only thing people adore more than a holiday is a weekend. Melodies began to flow, and I incorporated some lines and elements from my original
composition, and voilà, it transformed into what it is now.
Bass has mentioned that a music video is in the works and that this is the sole track he’ll be releasing for this season. The song has already garnered significant affection at parties and on the radio, not to mention its impressive achievement of surpassing 12,000 views on YouTube within the first three weeks of its release. However, Bass remains exceedingly confident that as time progresses, it
will receive full rotation, as it’s a track that’s impossible to resist.
The song’s early release provides ample time for it to gain momentum, so let it do just that. In the meantime, you can find it available for purchase on all major platforms. Feel free to like, share, and leave a comment on his YouTube channel.
