After two years of inactivity due to the covid pandemic, the talented musicians of Buzzrock will return to the stage on the 21st of May at Rootsyard, a dub/reggae-themed night market.

Buzzrock is a roots reggae band fusing the traditions of roots reggae music with a modern sound. “Modern Foundation” is how best the band’s sound can be described. The band is made up of an eclectic cast of established professionals in their respective fields.

Buzzrock has had the privilege of opening numerous local reggae shows for major artistes like Chronixx, Samory I, and Midnite, and was the backup band used by Ijah Man Levi for his last concert here in Trinidad.

 Band members include:

Sadiki Niamke Phillips is Buzzrock’s lead vocalist, founder, songwriter, rhythm guitarist, band leader. Sadiki brings passion, originality and timelessness to his musical creations. A talented drummer, self taught guitarist, keyboardist and bassist, Sadiki has been described as a musical prodigy and the engine which drives many of Buzzrock’s creations.

Wadi Gad (drums and vocals) is a legend in his own right. He is a professional drummer who has played, recorded and toured with many great artistes such as Twinkle Brothers, Culture, Linval Thompson, Ernie Smith, Don Carlos, Michael Rose, EEkamouse, Midnite, Makka B, I threes, and Ken Holt to name a few. He has also recorded 9 albums of his own music as a solo artiste.

 Dominic Gomes (bass Guitar is also an accomplished visual artist and the founder of Rebel Music Productions, where he does his own productions for numerous artistes on the local landscape.

 Kiwan Landreth Smith (lead/rhythm guitar and vocals) is a musician with 20 years of live experience and a technologist through the same period. He is an educator, surfer and recently a father. Kiwan leads his own band, Kin Sound System, and is the resident guitarist in 3 Canal’s live band, Cut and Clear Crew. As a freelance guitarist he has had the opportunity to back Luciano, Phantan Mojah, Mikey Spice, Marlon Asher, Ossie Gad and Prophet Benjamin. Having graduated from UTT’s production program he is now the producer and engineer at Kin Sound Studios.

 Candace Moore (keyboards and vocals) holds over 15 years of experience as a professional keyboardist/ pianist. She is classically trained and is currently studying for the Associate of Royal School of Music ( ARSM). In her early 2000s as a secondary school teacher,her passion for arranging saw the establishment of a thriving school ensemble and co-founding of a church-based ensemble. Candace has brought her unique style to several dynamic multi genre ensembles such as Soca Sabor, Rebelution Souljahs, Blue Culture and Karyvibes. She has backed popular artistes slike Baron, Black Stalin, Levi Myaz, Ziggy Rankin, Ataklan and 3Suns. She has been a member of the local reggae band Buzzrock since 2013.

 John Hussain (lead/rhythm Guitar) is a guitarist with over 20 years of performing and recording experience. He has studied classical guitar under Graham Newling where he attained his grade 8 practical certificate from the Royal Schools of Music. He is also a past winner of the guitar solo category at the Trinidad and Tobago music festival. He has played, toured and recorded with numerous acts, most notably Mungal Patasar and Pantar. He has perormed with David Rudder, Stalin, Calypso Rose, Ronnie Mcintosh, Marlon Asher, Prophet Benjamin, Queen Omega, Levi Mayers. John also wrote and recorded the soundtrack for two local films, “The Temple in the Sea” and the soon to be released “Not Now Never Now”.

There will be a donation box for the band.

The show is free to the public.
