Freestyle Champion, Akeem “Preedy” Chance premiered a Soca love song for the ages and set the mood right for lovers of love last Wednesday night, as he officially launched his new song and video, “My Girl”. Scores of female fans, industry professionals and media personalities assembled at CB’s on Rust Street for the visual premiere, which became an unforgettable night for the industry and a viable template for all the young talented acts striving for global success and professional standards of presentation.
Hosted, organized and managed by Anthony Gomez of Pixel Perfect Media, with sterling contributions by key members of Preedy’s Promotional Team, the event was deemed a grand success by all in attendance. As the new song rang out on the airwaves and trended on social media the following day, Preedy’s team was beseiged with compliments and queries about the organization, amenities and general good energy that flowed throughout the previous night.
“I just have to thank my wife and my team for supporting me always and for putting together this amazing event, so that we can all come together and celebrate my new song and video,” said Chance graciously onstage. “Trini artists can never half-step because you guys (in the crowd) hold us to such a high standard, so in return we expect the utmost support when we go all out…”
The walls, furnishings and all the bodies on the space reverberated with loving support as the gathering enjoyed a live performance from “Preedy” with special guests, College Boy Jesse and Muhammad “Mud” Muwakil of the Freetown Collective. The trio also premiered an upbeat collaboration with the powerful refrain, “We Up Now”, which is sure to be a Carnival favorite in 2026 and contributed to Preedy’s engaging medley of hit songs.

“Preedy is such a genuine and talented brother,” said Muwakil, “it’s always a good vibe whenever we link up and it’s a pleasure to be here to support him and to work with him.”
“Oh gash, well we outside!” Exclaimed D All Starz band front man, “College Boy Jesse” Stewart. “Is Preedy so yuh dun know the ladies are outside and in attendance with us. Much love and blessings to my brother, Akeem. Maximum respect for this track and this excellent presentation tonight. We are here to support him and we want all the Soca fans to support this project 3000 per cent!”
Diving into delectable treats by Xia’s Bistro after indulging in assorted cocktails from the Cocktail Masters, the gathering was packed with familiar faces from the entertainment world, including popular Soca artistes, media personalities and executives, top producers, event promoters and social media influencers. The anticipation and positive energy registered very high from early on, with College Boy Jesse opening the night followed by a soulful performance from Freetown Collective that set the tone just right for more success.
Before the main visual reveal, the audience got an in-depth look at the creative process via on-stage Q&As and conversations with top-tier music producer and visionary sound architect, Kitwana Israel; renowned videographer and editor, Sean Padmore and Preedy’s stage manager, Gabby LG. They each shared their inputs and roles in shaping the project and gave insight into the concept and development behind the music video. Preedy took a moment on stage to personally thank his team for putting together such a well-executed event and the excitement continued to build until the official “My Girl” video finally played across the screens, welcomed by loud cheers and big wide-eyed reactions from the crowd.

To close the night, Preedy stepped on stage to perform “My Girl” live for the first time and it was nothing short of euphoric and pore-raising. The crowd swayed from side to side, fully locked in with the energy and vibe of the moment and the song that seems destined for greatness. Undoubtedly, “My Girl” is a Soca love song for the ages and its journey through time and space has only just begun mid-year and ahead of the Carnival band launch season and the lucrative second half of 2025’s Carnivals around the globe. Sharing a snapshot of this ‘bigger picture’ of possibilities, Preedy took fans through the signature moments of his professional, personal and musical journey, while also serenading several females in the audience with red roses – adding a personal and romantic touch to his performance. By the time he returned to “My Girl” to end his set, the crowd was singing along without missing a beat. Enhanced with amazing performances, top-tier cocktails, delectable “moreish” food that had guests raving, and an overall outpouring of positive energy and professional presentation, this event easily scored a 10 out of 10.
