With the much-anticipated Tobago Carnival just around the corner, flights, hotels, guest houses, and even yuh cousin’s room already sold out, and extra sailings of the Tobago ferries being announced—you can bet this year’s Tobago Carnival will be one for the books. Defining its position on the team and here to stay, the recently launched Comfort Suites Tobago was the epicenter of all the action as the island unveiled what promises to be its most dynamic carnival yet: Mud, Mas & Music: Tobago Carnival 2025.

On wednesday, September 10, the Tobago Festivals Commission Ltd rolled out the official plans for the 2025 edition of the island’s rapidly growing carnival. Hosted at the newly opened Comfort Inn and Suites in Scarborough, the launch event pulled out all the stops, revealing the highly-anticipated Calendar of Events, the lineup of Registered Mas Bands, and this year’s electric theme: Mud, Mas, Music.

The event welcomed a wide cross-section of dignitaries, carnival stakeholders, cultural ambassadors, sponsors, partners, and media representatives, all immersed in what promises to be a great event this October.

A Carnival with Culture at Its Core

Kern Cowan, CEO of the Tobago Festivals Commission Ltd, emphasized the unique vision behind the celebration. “For us at the Commission, the Tobago Carnival brand is not just an event, but a unique offering that needs to be nurtured, cherished, and developed,” Cowan shared. “We are committed to working with all stakeholders with the aim of creating lasting experiences where all are welcome to Come for the Culture, Stay for the Experience, and Return for the Memories.”

This statement hits at the heart of Tobago Carnival’s appeal—authentic Caribbean culture, curated for locals and visitors alike, and steeped in vibrant traditions and unforgettable experiences.

Where Tradition Meets Tech

Tobago Carnival 2025 isn’t just playing it safe with vibes and rhythm—it’s stepping boldly into the future. This year’s launch introduced a first-ever Augmented Reality (AR) experience, bringing a whole new layer of innovation to the celebration. Think: digital meets bacchanal. Whether you’re a tech junkie or a culture connoisseur, this immersive element signals Tobago’s commitment to keeping the festival both grounded in its roots and fresh for future generations.

A Launch Full of Local Flavour

The unveiling wasn’t just informative—it was a full-on cultural teaser. Attendees were treated to energetic performances from some of Tobago’s rising stars including Isaiah, Verrse, Nicole Thomas, and Amari Douglas. The stage also lit up with a powerful showcase from Delecia’s Dance Agency, while an interactive art zone brought even more colour and creativity to the event.

Tobago Carnival 2025: More Than Just a Fete

With the theme Mud, Mas, Music, this year’s carnival is shaping up to be a well-rounded celebration that embraces every facet of the Tobago identity—from the revelry of J’ouvert to the vibrance of mas and the heartbeat of island music. Whether you’re chipping down the road in mud-stained glory or catching a performance under the stars, there’s no question: Tobago Carnival 2025 is a must-experience moment.

So if you haven’t secured your ticket yet, good luck—Tobago is already booked and buzzing. And if you’re one of the lucky ones with a room key in hand (even if it’s just yuh cousin’s couch), prepare yourself. Carnival in Tobago isn’t just coming—it’s arriving with a bang, a beat, and a whole lot of bacchanal.
