Amidst all the political tension of last week and following the final resolution at Balisier House, our soon-to-be retiring Prime Minister, Dr Keith Rowley made sure to come celebrate his succession selection victory with his wife and family at Bishop’s cooler fete!

Kudos to the organising committee, comprised of: Wendy Rocke, Wanda Bernard (Head) and Gem Ible-Lewis, Debbie King, Ingrid Lashley, Carolyn John, Joanne Dupigny, Lesley John, Shonda Moore, Keith Leggard and Marguerite Moore for a job well done galvanizing the alumni and assembling a fun-loving crowd and a stellar cast of entertainers.

In addition to the Prime Minister and Mrs. Rowley, there were many dignitaries and celebrities spotted in the crowd, including: sporting heroes, Brian Lara and Russel Latapy; Mayor of Port of Spain, Chinua Alleyne; the outgoing US Ambassador, Candace Bond; Speaker of the House, Bridgette Anisette-George and husband, Newman George; NLCB Chairman Eustace Nancis, Cricket West Indies Director, Debra Coryat-Patton; Anglican Bishop Claude Berkley and Chairman of the school’s Board Canon Richard Jacob, as well as local songstress Vaughnette Bigford.

Known for rich and diverse food options throughout their all inclusive format, the cooler fete fare included: staples such as geera pork, geera chicken, bake and shark, a curry bowl with paratha, pineapple chow, drunken cupcakes, pelau, wings, doubles, a lashing fish broth and corn soup, along with novel items such as geeralau, roasted breadfruit with saltfish and coconut sauce, corn and pigtail, samosas, bhagi rice with and without pigtail, pholourie and assorted tacos.
