Devon “Lyrikal” Martin separated himself from the pool of up and coming Soca-singing talents over a decade ago and bolstered by his charismatic personality, charming smile and unbiased rapport with fans, he made himself a household name across the Carnival circuit and the Caribbean diaspora. After finessing sold-out shows in NY and Miami to end 2024, Martin spent some extra time at home in Trinidad with family and friends and came into Carnival 2025 relaxed and rejuvenated. “We pump so steady for so long, I really felt it was time for a lil slow down last year coming down to the end.
And when I got the reports about how cold it got up north, I was really glad to have spent some extra time at home here in the sun…” Now fully energised and ready for the final stretch of February, “Lyro” is eager to reconnect with fans and fete promoters alike and determined to put his best foot forward in the upcoming Young Kings competition. “I was home and I saw it and I thought to myself: this is a long season and I never qualified before so why not put my hat in the ring and see what it brings… I wanna thank all my fans, family and industry supporters for all the love and encouragement, sincerely, I was able to look back and see how far I’ve come and it just filled me with a feeling of immense gratitude and appreciation for 2025.
