Akeem “Preedy” Chance is a multi-talented singer/songwriter hailing from Maloney Gardens, who has captivated fans and industry stakeholders throughout the Diaspora and wider world with his unique and addictive tone, style and lyrical prowess. Poised to explode onto the Carnival 2025 scene, he has observed calmly, the build up to the longest season (in and for many years) of the Greatest Show on Earth and stands ready to contribute, compete, collaborate and “Blaze Fire” as his latest release states emphatically. XVibes linked up with “Preedy” recently ahead of his guest appearance at College Boy Jesse’s “Soca Love Story 4 – Space Jam” event happening this coming Saturday night at Sound Forge in St James. On In 5 Q & A – Preedy

Q: Besides yourself, what are your 3 favorite soca songs for 2024 thus far?
A: Full Blown “Good Spirit”, GBM Nutron “One Piece”,
Patrice Roberts’ “Cyah Hear Yuh” and Super Blue’s “Canboulay Dancers”

Q: Who are your top 3 favorite artistes of all time to listen to?
A: Simon & Garfunkel, Vybz Kartel, GBM Nutron

Q: When and where and how did you realise your song was hitting this year ?
A: I noticed in September, when 2 songs I released for the St Lucia carnival (Vibes Team, Buddy Pass) started getting regular rotation in T&T organically, I felt great. I knew that I could build on that  momentum coming into the season once I continued releasing good music.

Q: Tell us the story or inspiration behind your hit songs, “Blaze Fire”, “Fine Wine”, “Vibes Team”, “Feelings” and “Throw Dem Out”?
How did you get these concept and why/when did you decide to record them?

A: “Blaze Fire” embodies the energy I feel rn! When I say: “It’s not no nice Preedy again” it simply means I’m no longer sitting by or waiting for my flowers, I’m laser-focused on my goal of being a soca legend and by the Grace of God it will be manifested and nothing is going to stand in my way of building my legacy.

“Throw Dem Out” was written by myself & produced by the prolific production team called HangJack. The msg to promoters is simple, once it could stop the fete “throw dem out” and if the promoter acting shady throw dem out too!!

“Feelings” was produced by Smiddy of Starblu and delves into the mind of a man getting a life-altering wine. “Cyah be yuh friend, I rather be your ex” is self explanatory. Some ladies just have it good like that.

Lastly, “Nine Wine” was produced by Nine Mind/ Lenkey Records on the Love heart Riddim and was written about my lovely wife, whom I adore and cherish cause she holds me down inside and outside and supports all my endeavors.

Q: Where will we find you this season? How can fans follow your progress?

A: These are some of the events I’m confirmed for –

Jan 18 – Foothills
Feb 1st – Soca Refuel
Feb 2nd – Straight Outta Belmont
Feb 8th – Blume
Feb 23rd – People with class
Feb 23rd – Casa Vibe
1st March – Bacchanal Brunch
