Trini-born Actress, Khadija Glasgow-Speer co-stars as ‘Khadija Lee’ and is also credited as a “Cultural Consultant” on Season 3 of the hit series, ATLANTA with episode 7, which is titled “Trini To De Bone”.
Created and Directed by one of Time magazine’s ‘100 Most Influential Persons’ in 2017, Donald Glover also known as “Childish Gambino”, the show airs on FX Networks and the streaming platform HULU.
“It is such an honor that God chose me this time, to represent my country and the Caribbean on this episode of Atlanta – and on the International Stage!” Said Glasgow-Speer. “As a Trinbagonian creative, a teacher who has taught our cultural forms in schools such as Five Rivers Secondary, St. Augustine Secondary and Holy Cross College; as well as an actress, who has spent a lot of time in Best Village, Deborah Nicholas Spears Arts Academy, worked with the Mt. Dor Cultural Performers, The Julia Edwards Dance Company under the tutelage of Earlyn Williams, the Malick Folk Performing Company, The Festival Theatre Company and The Trinidad and Tobago National Theatre Company and the UWI Arts in Action Unit etc., I feel like God has chosen me now to inspire our local creatives about the possibilities that exist…
“Jordan Temple and Donald Glover did a great job at writing the episode,” she revealed, “however, they are not Trinibagonian and didn’t get everything right at first. The creative genius that Director Donald Glover is inspired him to hire me as cultural consultant to ensure that things were authentic and not only Trinbagonian, but also ‘Trinbagonian/Newyorkan’. This gave me the opportunity to contribute to not only fine-tuning the script, but also having my say in the casting and directing on set.”
Fellow Trinbagonian actor, Noel Arthur plays the Pastor on the episode, with dancers, Natalie Joseph Settle and Patriann Edwards are also featured in Episode 7.
