FilmTT’s ‘Mixed Up’ Debuts On TTT

The highly anticipated local sitcom ‘Mixed Up’ made its debut onscreen to all the homes in Trinidad and Tobago on Monday 25th September exclusively on TTT Limited. The sitcom, which was filmed entirely in Trinidad, is about a mixed family of an Indo Trinidadian wife and Afro Trinidadian husband and their three children navigating contemporary family life in Trinidad and Tobago against the sometimes overbearing influence of their respective conservative mothers.

The idea for ‘Mixed Up’ was pitched by the sitcom’s Showrunner, Richard Ragoobarsingh during FilmTT’s Script to Screen Programme. This 5-episode series will be showing every night from the 25th to the 29th September at 8 PM on TTT.

The cast of ‘Mixed Up’, which was carefully selected by the Trinidad and Tobago Performance Arts Network, consists of seasoned and up-and-coming actors such as Penelope Spencer, Patti-Anne Ali, Kevon Brooks, Keshala Mahabir, Serran Clarke, Bridget Rampersad, Jarlon George and Kristen Wilson. Each person brought their own unique flavour and vibe to their character on the show under the direction of Richard and Director Nigel Thompson.

FilmTT has worked alongside various companies that assisted in set direction, building and design. Some of these film friendly companies include Fens of Trinidad and Tobago, Dwellings, The Home Store, S.M. Jaleel & Company Limited, Caribbean Bottlers Trinidad & Tobago Limited, BrydenPi Limited, ABC Doors and Windows, Kaleidoscope Paints Limited, Maraj Wholesalers Limited and more. FilmTT also worked closely with Star Global Production Studios, TTT Limited and Sew Lisa to produce this high-quality series.

The series is the outcome of the Script to Screen Programme which was done in partnership with TTT Limited and exporTT. The Programme was an open submission with over 35 scripts submitted. After a public voting, 5 were short listed to present for ‘The Pitch’. Those Five finalists also participated in the Writers’ Room, a one-month on-the-job training for writers to familiarize themselves with the TV sitcom/studio format, which included training/mentorship. Of the 5 pitches, one was selected to be made into a sitcom by a panel of judges from TTT, exporTT and EXIM Bank. The series Writers’ Room comprised of all 5 writers who contributed to the editing of the script under the guidance of the Executive Producers and the winning Showrunner, Richard Ragoobarsingh.
