Another queen, Nadia Batson or as she is popularly known, “Nadi” has always had a big heart and an even bigger creative mind. Over the years, she has not only graced the stage as a performer, including memorable moments alongside Kes, but has also generously shared her talents behind the scenes, shaping some of soca’s biggest hits.

With the sharp wit of her pen, Nadia has penned and co-written chart-topping anthems for some of the industry’s leading artistes, including FarmerNappy’s Hookin’ Meh and Machel Montano’s PopAh Bottle — and that list could easily continue. She is also credited with forming and leading the all-female band SASS, further cementing her role as a trailblazer and consistent champion for women in the culture.

Never one to shy away from making a statement, Nadia has long used her music to speak boldly and unapologetically. In 2023, she let the men know that when it comes to anything sweet in the “market,” you don’t sample, you buy the whole market. Now, fast forward to Carnival 2026, and she has once again captured the conversation with “Pieces,” a track that has taken over social media, the airwaves, and timelines through memes, reels, and viral challenges.

And let’s be real honest, we all know Trinis are notorious for borrowing things, and when you ask for them back, it’s either they are more vex than you because yuh ask, “they cyah find it,” or it comes back literally in PIECES. That everyday reality is exactly what makes the song hit so close to home.

Known for writing songs that are witty and deeply relatable,Nadia says that style is exactly what her fans have always appreciated about her music. Pieces was written and recorded in June2025 at Don Iko Studios in Trinidad, with production handled by Swick B out of St Vincent, and from its release, the response has been nothing short of overwhelming. While she always hopes her audience connects with her music, she admits that her fans continue to exceed her expectations, making the reception feel especially rewarding.

As the song continues to gain momentum, the creativity of the public has taken it to another level. From dance challenges to comedic skits, Pieces has inspired thousands of interpretations across the region. Nadia says she’s simply enjoying the creativity, noting that the challenge has spread throughout the Caribbean, making it almost impossible to single out a favourite.

With Pieces setting the tone, Carnival 2026 is already shaping up to be a strong one for the soca queen. She’s excited to touch stages, connect with her supporters, and deliver high-energy performances throughout the season. Adding to the excitement is her highly anticipated concert, Artform, which takes place February 7th at Queen’sHall Garden. While producing a concert in the middle of Carnival comes with its challenges, Nadia credits her solid team for keeping her focused, energized, and ready to deliver. Her promise to fans is simply an unforgettable experience that leaves the venue, quite literally, in Pieces.

And for those wondering if the men are getting a special men’s anthem anytime soon, Nadia is quick to clarify: Pieces is very much for them too. Her message is clear fellas, let them know… is only ONE yuh have.
