A new band is set to make waves

The band SeaBath will make its Songshine Open Mic debut on June 2nd at Kafe Blue.

The fresh new band is made up of an accomplished team of musicians, featuring Amy-Li Baksh on vocals, Aaron Lowchewtung on bass, Dexter Banfield on percussion, and Damir Shorab Ali on guitar. With influences from indie pop to Caribbean folk music and 90s nostalgia, SeaBath’s sound washes over you, reflecting the cleansing rituals of the islands and transforming them into sound.

Poet Sterling Henderson will also perform works, including poems from his EP, When Soca Full Mih Mouth.

The concert marks the return of Songshine, founded in 2005 as a platform for writers and performers, after the pandemic closed down live shows in 2020.

Founder Gillian Moor says: “We have a new venue, new day and time, but we promise the same great entertainment, the same great time. And as always, the mic is ready and waiting for you.”

Songshine feat. SeaBath & Sterling Henderson at Kafe Blue (formerly Kaiso Blues), Wrightson Road, Port of Spain on Thursday June 2nd, 6 pm • Info: 741-1569
