One down, two to go, as the energy builds for today’s Super Concert, featuring Benjai, Veteran Johnny “wet meh down” King Neil Iwer George and others.

The first day of the Trinbago Toronto Festival kicked off at Nathan Phillips Square in downtown Toronto, hosted by the Toronto Consulate in collaboration with the National Carnival Commission (NCC). The team is being led by the NCC’s newly minted Deputy Chairman Kevan Gibbs, Tashia Grace Burris Secretary of Tourism, Culture for Tobago and the Tobago House of Assemble (THA) and include Trinbago Unified Calypso Organization (TUCO), and other key stakeholders.

This year’s theme, “A true Trinbago after work lime,” brought a relaxed, cultural evening to the heart of the city  celebrating the rhythm, wit, and storytelling spirit of Trinidad and Tobago through steelpan, calypso, and stand-up comedy. The festivities officially opened with a warm welcome by MC and cultural icon, Dr. Rita Cox, revered matriarch of the Trinidad and Tobago community in Toronto.

Crowds were treated to electrifying performances from chutney star GI, extempo monarch Black Sage alongside Myron B, as well as vibrant appearances by our moko jumbies, baby dolls, and traditional fancy Indians all showcasing the vibrant spirit of Trinbago culture.

The festival, themed Trinbago Toronto Festival, runs from Friday, 5th September to Sunday, 7th September 2025, at Nathan Phillips Square.

Come celebrate our culture. Soak in the photo highlights from Day One  and stay tuned, there’s plenty more to come.
