From Lil Statis to Lil’ Rick, Golden Soca 2022 was a movie!

The cast of 17 stellar live performers including three Crop Over monarchs, two DJ teams, two co-MCS (Jennifer Walker and Young Ali Singh), a three-member band (drummer Renaldo Griffith was superb); dancing, singing, add some rain, lightning, and umbrellas to lots of good vibes and you have the right amount of ingredients to provide the hundreds of patrons attending the six-hour event held at Ballpark Events and Entertainment Centre with everything they have come to expect.

After a two-year break owing to the COVID-19 pandemic, regular and new patrons of all ages had lots to be happy about as they partied – mindful of the protocols – mask wearing, social distancing and staying in bubbles – from Saturday evening into the wee hours of yesterday to some of this year’s popular music, Crop Over classics and other hits from the recent past.

It was veteran DJ and radio announcer Admiral Nelson and DJ Gerald B who got the party started, taking people on a musical journey during what can be described as pre-show. (GBM).
