Back in June, 2007, Mungal Patasar and his band Pantar graced the original Songshine stage at Trevor’s Edge in St Augustine. The next edition of the show will pick up the family thread, with a featured performance by his daughter, Sharda.

Sharda is an accomplished musician in her own right, having lived n India and studied Northern Indian Classical music. She is also a musical/cultural researcher and newspaper columnist.

“This show feels like a legacy thing,” says Gillian Moor, host and producer of the Songshine series.

“We featured Mungal and Patasar at our second anniversary show, so it’s a special pleasure for us to be part of Sharda’s musical journey as well.”

Also in the spotlight at the July show will be Adam “Mar” Andrews, whose terse, organic and sensual writing has thrilled Songshine audiences in the past.

As usual, the open mic is an invitation to new and experienced performers to share their work.

The concert takes place at Kafe Blue (formerly Kaiso Blues) on Wrightson Road on Thursday July 7th. Doors open at 6pm, when open mic registration begins. Admission costs $50.
