The annual Chutney Soca Monarch competition takes place on January 20 at the RIG, San Fernando, with 33 artistes having qualified for what is now considered the “most important stage for the Indo Caribbean music industry”.
The event which is now in its 28th year will host its Grand Final at Skinner Park on February 10. Promoters Southex received 62 song submissions of which 33 have been chosen to perform at the semi-final stage.
From the semi-final round, only 11 songs will be selected for the grand final. Daddy Chinee will be defending his crown. At the final, while Southex will also be crowning a “Queen of Chutney Soca” for 2024.
