Transitioning is never easy, as you never know if you’re doing the right thing, at the right time, or if you would even be accepted. But Trinidadian artiste Tejj 1.5.3, managed through 1.5.3 Collective, is doing exactly that as he charts his way towards Carnival 2027 with his new release, “Soca Man / Slow Down.”
A melody-filled, groovy vibe and story about meeting that lady on the road for Carnival, with her waistline moving in a rhythm that can get you in trouble — but the Soca Man is up for the challenge. And from the reviews it has already gathered since its release on YouTube just about two weeks ago, the fans are loving it. After we at XVibes listened, we think he is on the right track with this track.
Moving from dancehall to soca, Omari Les Pierre, “Tejj 1.5.3,” is now embracing his soca sound and building a new era around his latest release. After transitioning from dancehall into soca, he brings his own style and energy to the genre. Known for his versatility and distinctive approach to music, “Soca Man / Slow Down” marks an important step in his transition and introduces audiences to a different side of his artistry.
You may ask yourself, why Tejj 1.5.3? He explains that Tejj means light, brightness or radiance, or “he that shines.”
1.5.3 is actually 9 when added up and is the highest number in the single-digit spectrum, in some traditions associated with the highest/God or the number of divine completeness.
With more music on the way, Tejj 1.5.3 is focused on developing his sound, connecting with new audiences and establishing himself within Trinidad and Tobago’s soca scene. He has additional soca releases in development, with further details to be announced soon.
A proud son of Carenage, he has been doing music since 2018, singing Trinidad music and recording demos at home studios. But in 2023, he started to take it seriously and began rebranding himself as a professional artiste. He dropped his first positive dancehall track, “Grateful,” and while very grateful for the experiences, he is now focused on showing his versatility in the realm of soca.
