Wise men, they say, come from the East. The sun also rises from the East. So it’s only fitting that one of the most talked-about events on the entertainment calendar is set to take over the East this Labour Day weekend.
Led by a team from the East — the Viking and VyQueen themselves, Bunji Garlin and Fay-Ann Lyons, together with producer Wayne Richards , one thing is certain: if you know, you know. Everyone else, check your GPS because all roads lead East for UVAY, the J’Ouvert experience that continues to attract fete lovers from across the country.
It promises not only a venue experience set to leave patrons mesmerized, but an event atmosphere that may have many reluctant to leave when the final tune fades. And with UVAY moving to the picturesque Solis Grove Estate on Bon Air Road, Cumuto, this year’s edition promises a fresh setting for an experience that has become known for delivering more than just a party.

Nestled within the lush greenery of East Trinidad, Solis Grove Estate offers a scenic backdrop unlike anything UVAY has experienced before. The expansive grounds provide ample space for patrons to roam, fete and fully immerse themselves in the celebration, while the natural surroundings add a unique charm that perfectly complements the event’s colourful energy. Organisers say the move was designed to elevate the overall experience, creating a destination-style event that begins the moment patrons arrive.
The new location also brings with it a number of practical benefits aimed at making the day more enjoyable. With easy access, ample parking and improved facilities, UVAY patrons can spend less time worrying about logistics and more time enjoying themselves. The venue has been carefully selected to accommodate the thousands expected to attend while maintaining the intimate, high-energy atmosphere that has become synonymous with the brand.

Perhaps one of the biggest game-changers this year is the convenience factor. Gone are the days of dragging heavy coolers packed with ice across large event grounds. Patrons will be able to purchase ice directly at the venue, making it easier than ever to keep drinks chilled throughout the morning. It’s all part of the organisers’ efforts to provide a cooler, smoother and more comfortable experience from start to finish, allowing revellers to travel lighter and focus on what matters most — having a great time.
Think paint. Think powder. Think water. Think non-stop entertainment and vibes from start to finish.
From the break of dawn, patrons will be treated to a colourful explosion of music, energy and revelry as UVAY once again brings the spirit of J’Ouvert to June. Foam, a music truck, coolers, paint and powder are all part of the mix as thousands are expected to descend on Cumuto for what many consider one of the most unique daytime fete experiences on the calendar.

Adding to the excitement is a cast featuring Bunji Garlin, Fay-Ann Lyons-Alvarez, Voice and KMC, while DJs Duane, Tarique and Kidoo, Adam and Patrick, Trevlyn and Die Hard, Elon and Penny, and Poison and Kerry are all set to keep the energy levels high throughout the morning.
The action gets underway at 5 a.m. and runs until midday, giving patrons seven hours of mud, paint, powder, water and pure bacchanal under the rising East Coast sun.
For those planning to make the trek, tickets are available online at eztix.io/events/uvay, while physical tickets can also be purchased at Viking House in St James and Phats Plus in Arima.
So if your Labour Day plans are still up in the air, check your Waze, check your GPS and point it East. Come June 19, Cumuto is expected to become a playground of colour, music and unforgettable memories as UVAY once again proves that sometimes the best experiences are found off the beaten path.
