Trinidad and Tobago’s Under-16 netballers retained their hold on the Jean Pierre Caribbean Youth Netball Championships title, when dealing Barbados its first loss of the tournament on yesterday’s final day of competition, at the UWI Sports and Physical Education Centre, in St Augustine.
T&T’s Junior Calypso Girls dominated their opponents, as they comprehensively whipped their Bajan rivals 42-21.

The Under-16 netballers thus maintained a perfect record, spanning two tournaments, having also played unbeaten when winning the corresponding competition in Barbados last year.
Both teams had gone into yesterday’s final match unbeaten, the hosts having posted the highest score of the tournament when defeating Antigua & Barbuda 51-9 on Thursday night, for their fifth win in as many matches. Meanwhile, Barbados also boasted a 100% record to that point, after five matches, repelling St Lucia 36-27.
