Songshine Open Mic is coming again with yet another evening of inspiring talent.

On Thursday, August 14th, Songshine welcomes back local indie rock band, Sint James. And Gayelle the Channel will be there to record the show live!

The youthful musicians have won fans and made a name for themselves on the local scene and beyond. Members Dimitri Sandy, (guitar, vocals), Evvi Sandy (bass, backup vocals), and Micah Jodhan (drums) are gearing up to release their third EP. Their stated aim is to redefine what indie rock from the Caribbean can be, with their vibrant, colourful and creative sound. This will be their second featured appearance at Songshine, having performed to rave reviews in 2022.

It will also be the first time that Gayelle will film the show, as part of a new partnership with the series that recently marked 20 years since its inception.

Also slated to perform at the August show will be master guitarist John Hussain, one of T&T’s most versatile, talented and respected instrumentalists. Hussain is a veteran of over 30 years’ experience, a former member of top bands, including for Calypso Rose, Mungal Patasar’s Pantar, Gyazette, 12, and Buzzrock. He has played on tour in Spain, Denmark, France, the US, Canada, UK, the Caribbean region, Australia and New Zealand.

Songshine’s open mic platform welcomes emerging performers of all genres. It provides a space for singers, musicians, comedians, poets, writers and more.

Songhine’s August edition will take place at Kafe Blue on Wrightson Road, from 7pm on August 14th. Admission costs $100, however, the first ten open mic participants to sign up pay $50.
