In an interview with Overtime Media, the Montego Bay dancehall star said he wants to collaborate with both Trinibad acts, Kman 6ixx and Medz Boss, framing it as a move for the future rather than division.

“Right now, honestly, me woulda like to do a song with Kman 6ixx and me woulda like to do a song with Medz Boss same way,” he said.

“That’s why I’m saying it here so they can see it… make we work together. Make we do this for the future, for the youths. We need unity right now, love, joy… let’s live.”

He also made it clear that the vision extends beyond dancehall.

Teejay showed strong support for Soca, naming Nailah Blackman, Skinny Fabulous and Yung Bredda, and said he’s fully open to working with artistes across the genre.

When asked about SoDa — the fusion of soca and dancehall — he said the connection is natural.

“Soca and dancehall, we are neighbours anyway… it’s the right thing to fuse these two genres and create history.”

The interview also highlighted his connection to Trinidad and the wider Caribbean, with the Up Top Boss noting that tracks like “Airplane Mode” have been performing especially well across the region.

“Without Jamaica, without Trinidad and the Caribbean, our music wouldn’t even reach places,” he said.

Behind all of this is a new chapter for the artiste. Teejay is currently in what he calls “Team Focus” mode as he prepares to release his upcoming album No Distraction, a project he says brings him back to the energy that first connected with fans.

“We talking about the 2016 Teejay…” he explained, “hustle mode.”

Revealing that his album is about 87 percent complete and carries added weight as he is now an independent artiste, Teejay added that he is no longer signed to Warner Records, but still maintains ties with Warner Chappell on the publishing side.

His current single “Perfect Body” is already being pushed as a summer record, with a message aimed at boosting confidence.

“A lot of females out there feel insecure… I just want them to know they’re special.”

Teejay also confirmed that UpTop Fest is his own event brand, with UK dates first, Jamaica set for December 27, and plans to bring the experience to Trinidad and other Caribbean territories.

With No Distraction on the way, the message is clear: no negativity, no distractions — just focus.
